• Suvendu raises ‘lack of praise’ for armed forces

  • Kolkata: Even as CM Mamata Banerjee questioned PM Narendra Modi's "silence" on Pakistan's threat to strike Kolkata, state leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Monday alleged that she always fell short of praising the role of the Indian armed forces.

"The CM demanded proof of retaliatory airstrikes by Indian Air Force following the Awantipura attack. We have seen her role after the Pahalgam incident. She did not even praise the role of the Indian armed forces during Operation Sindoor. Instead, she chose to raise questions over the name of the operation," Adhikari said.

"Married Hindu women use sindoor to pray for the long life of their spouses. By raising the question over terming the operation as Sindoor, she insulted the traditional Bengali culture. She has, on multiple occasions, expressed her thoughts, which are against the nation," he added.

While BJP has on multiple occasions accused Trinamool of allowing infiltration across the borders, Adhikari said "TMC netas called the BSF rapists" and questioned the presence of armed forces on Second Hooghly Bridge.

"When members of the armed forces came to uninstall the pandal on Red Road, she insulted them. In a demeaning note, she said that the armed forces were fleeing after she came. It is the same armed force that has been protecting India's borders," Adhikari said.
