  • Malda: The NIA has detained nine more in connection with the Mothabari violence. They are being interrogated to uncover the motive behind the attack on the judicial officers who were gheraoed for nine hours on April 1.

    A section of the agitators arrived at the Mothabari block office on the day from villages such as Kuriatar and Kahala, which are more than 10 km away from the site, NIA sources said. Sources said some of them had actually come from Pakur in Jharkhand, and the NIA is working to establish their identities. The NIA has also found that some BLOs were involved in the agitation, the sources added.

    As of now, 62 people have been arrested in the case.

    Of these 12, nine were held on charges of blocking the judges' cars and attacking them.
