‘CBSE class 12 examiners to check papers on Sundays’
Times of India | 10 April 2026
Kolkata: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed examiners, evaluating class 12 board answer scripts, to treat Sundays as working days, revising its earlier notice that Sundays and holidays would remain non-working during the assessment period.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, the board said the change was necessary to prevent delays in the declaration of results. It cited intervening holidays and Sundays as factors that could slow down the evaluation of answer scripts.
The CBSE has introduced digital evaluation of class 12 exam papers for the first time, marking a significant procedural shift from the conventional system that requires examiners to adapt to the new method of checking papers. Examiners could attend only a few training sessions before entering the new system. The introduction of digital assessment has added to the challenge as not all examiners are technically proficient and are still trying to get used to the new system.
