Kolkata: The Bengal Police, following an EC directive, has ordered the transfer of 81 inspectors and 19 sub-inspectors. All transferred personnel were told to ensure their unit in-charges, CPs or SPs gave an undertaking, pledging they wouldn't take poll assignments or interfere with the election process.
The directive issued on Thursday night was a response to EC orders, dated March 29 and April 4. The transferred officers were told to take up new assignments by 5 pm on April 10.
"The officers may be deployed for VIP/VVIP police bandobast and will not be assigned any election work," stated the transfer order for the 81 inspectors, shifted to specialised units, like STF, SB and CID.
The 19 sub-inspectors have been transferred between police districts.
