  • Kolkata: Park Street Police Station cops, with the help of the detective department, busted a fake loan racket, believed to be worth crores of rupees, following a raid on a fake call centre on Wednesday and arrested six people.

The probe was launched following a complaint, lodged by a North 24-Parganas resident, who was cheated of RS 18,300. The gang members, posing as employees of a reputable private finance company, used forged and fabricated loan approval documents, convinced their targets that their credit applications were sanctioned, and subsequently started demanding various "processing fees" and "security deposits".

Police seized 32 feature phones, an attendance register for the "employees", SIM cards and "script diaries" for gang members to talk to victims.
