Kolkata: A fire broke out at a popular biryani outlet in the Hatibagan market area on Saturday. Fire officials said the blaze was reported around 3.30pm and originated from the first-floor chimney of the restaurant. "It is unclear how the fire started, but flames shot up rapidly and thick black smoke billowed out. Staff immediately escorted the customers out during the peak lunch hours," said an officer.
Five fire tenders managed to bring the blaze under control in two hours. Following the incident, authorities shut the restaurant and cordoned off the premises. Forensic teams will examine the site to ascertain the exact cause of fire. No injuries were reported, police said. tnn
