EC makes more transfers, shifts 5 cops from Hwh, Bkp, Asansol-Durgapur

Kolkata: The Election Commission has transferred five more inspectors — all of them posted across three police commissionerates — barely 10 days before the first phase of assembly election in Bengal.
The transfers come barely 24 hours after 59 cops were transferred on Saturday.
While two officers each have been transferred from Howrah Police Commissionerate, two others are from Barrackpore PC and one from Asansol-Durgapur PC. The transferred officers have been sent to the SB-DIB and traffic units of Chandannagar police commissionerate, Asansol-Durgapur PC and Krishnanagar PC.
"The Officers may be deployed for VIP/VVIP Police bandobast and will not be assigned any work related to conduct of election. Their respective unit in-charges will take a written undertaking from all these concerned officers that they will not interfere with ongoing election process directly. The report of compliance will be furnished urgently," said the ECI order.
