EC teams starts state-wide review of poll preparedness

team, led by senior Dy Election Commissioner Gyanesh Bharati arrived in West Bengal on Monday for a three-day visit to review election preparedness, law and order, and administrative coordination ahead of the upcoming polls.
Bharati landed at Andal airport in West Burdwan around 12.30 p.m. and proceeded by road to Birbhum, where he is scheduled to hold a meeting at the District Magistrate’s office.
Accompanied by two officials, he conducted a virtual meeting with officials from West and East Burdwan, Hooghly, North 24-Parganas and Kolkata to assess ground-level arrangements.
On Tuesday morning, the delegation is slated to visit Nadia as part of its inspection tour.
Simultaneously, another Election Commission team led by Apoorva Kumar Singh has reached North Bengal to conduct a parallel review across five districts.
Their tour begins in Alipurduar, followed by Rajabhatkhawa, where officials will inspect polling booths and interact with locals.
The team will subsequently visit Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Darjeeling and Kalimpong over the next few days.
According to sources, the North Bengal team is expected to remain in the state for around five days.
Through a series of meetings and field visits, both teams aim to comprehensively assess poll readiness, security arrangements and coordination among administrative agencies across the state.
