• Shyam Steel signs MoU to set up Rs 10,000-cr facility in Maharashtra

  • Kolkata: City-based Shyam Steel has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Maharashtra govt to establish a large-scale manufacturing plant in Chandrapur district for over Rs 10,000 crore. Shyam Steel has a strong presence in the eastern region, with plants in Bengal, Jharkhand and other states. The proposed plant in Maharashtra is expected to generate over 8,000 employment opportunities.

    The MoU was signed in the presence of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, principal secretary (industries, investment & services) P Anbalagan, and directors of Shyam Steel, Purushottam Beriwala and Sidhartha Beriwala.

    "This strategic investment highlights Maharashtra's position as a preferred destination for industrial development and underscores Shyam Steel's commitment to expand its footprint while contributing to India's manufacturing growth," the company stated.

    It added that the upcoming facility in Chandrapur is expected to strengthen the steel manufacturing ecosystem, drive infrastructure development and accelerate socio-economic progress in the region.
