BSF ASI dies in fire at POL dump control room in North 24 Parganas

A Border Security Force (BSF) assistant sub-inspector lost his life after a fire broke out at a fuel storage facility in North 24-Parganas district of West Bengal on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at the Border Out Post (BOP) Bankra under the Basirhat Police District, officials said.
According to initial reports, the fire erupted around 8.36 a.m. at the control room of the petrol, oil and lubricants (POL) dump of the 77 Battalion BSF. ASI Jagi Ram, who was in charge of the POL facility, got trapped inside the control room during the blaze and fell unconscious. Fire tenders reached the spot at approximately 9:24 am and managed to bring the flames under control after sustained efforts. However, the officer could not be saved. He was later declared dead. Jagi Ram hailed from Bhiwani district in Haryana.
