  • Nandigram: Crude bombs were allegedly hurled at BJP neta Abbas Beg's house in Nandigram late Thursday, hours after he filed a police complaint against TMC neta Sheikh Sufiyan.

Beg, BJP Tamluk minority cell general secretary, said the attack in Nayana was meant to silence him. "It was a clear attempt to eliminate me for speaking out against the governing party's intimidation tactics."

Police rushed to the spot, recovered several live bombs, and deployed heavy security in the area.

Beg's complaint said Sufiyan had threatened to kill him and abused him during a TMC campaign meeting.

Reacting to the charges, Sufiyan said, "Beg is a political lightweight trying to stay relevant by spinning fables."
