  • Asansol: A BJP neta was arrested on Friday night after a woman alleged he slapped her and her minor daughter during a door-to-door campaign visit at DVC Colony in Pandaveswar, after she said she would vote for Trinamool, reports Mohammed Asif. Her husband was also allegedly assaulted when he intervened.

    According to the complainant, a BJP delegation visited her residence at Bangalpara around 10 am and pressured her to support the party. When she refused and stated her preference for Trinamool, the accused lost his temper and struck both her and her daughter.

    A complaint alleging molestation and assault was filed at the local police station, following which the accused was arrested from his residence the same night.
