Modi to hold four rallies in Junglemahal with focus on tribal outreach
The Statesman | 19 April 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to return to West Bengal for an intensive campaign tour, focusing on the Junglemahal region with a special emphasis on tribal voters ahead of the first phase of Assembly election.
In a rare move, Modi will address four public rallies across the state on Sunday, primarily covering the Rarh Bengal belt.
His itinerary includes meetings in Bishnupur, Purulia, Jhargram and Midnapore. Holding four rallies in a single day in Bengal marks a departure from his usual campaign pattern.
According to the schedule, the Prime Minister will arrive at Andal airport on Saturday night and stay in Durgapur.
He will fly to Bankura and address his first rally at Barjora around 11 a.m. on Sunday morning.
He will then proceed to Purulia, where he is slated to speak at a rally in the Balarampur Assembly segment at 12.45 p.m.
The third rally is scheduled in Jhargram at 2.45 p.m, near the town area, followed by the fourth and final public meeting of the day in Midnapore.
In addition, Modi is expected to visit Belur Math in Howrah on 23 April, from where he will hold a road show up to Shalkia.
