• Woman hacked to death in Kestopur

  • Kolkata: A 32-year-old woman, Bandana Singh Roy, was allegedly hacked to death at a rented residence in Kestopur's Area No. 3 on Monday morning following a heated altercation with a local acquaintance, police said. The incident took place at a three-storeyed building in Kestopur Baroaritola's Samar Sarani, where Singh Roy, was living with her son Akash and another family member for about a month after recently moving into the neighbourhood.

    According to preliminary information, Singh Roy was involved in an argument earlier in the day with a neighbour who was known to frequently visit the house and occasionally stay over. Police sources indicated that the man was allegedly in a relationship with the victim.

    During the altercation, the accused, locally known as Fakir, reportedly attacked Singh Roy with a sharp weapon, inflicting a fatal injury to her neck before fleeing. Residents alerted Baguiati PS.She was rushed to a local hospital, where she was declared dead by a doctor.

    The body has been sent for post-mortem. Police have launched a search operation to trace the accused.
