• TMC functionary shot in Gosaba, remains critical

  • Kolkata: A Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker, Dibyendu Gayen, was shot at in South 24 Parganas' Gosaba on Sunday, just days ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026.

    Cops said Gayen was returning home at 11 pm after attending a party meeting. While on his way back, miscreants allegedly intercepted him and opened fire.

    After primary treatment at Gosaba Block Hospital, he was shifted to Chittaranjan National Medical College and Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. Doctors have stated that his condition is critical. Reports suggest that the bullets hit his back and leg.

    TMC leaders have accused the BJP of being behind the attack. No official response from the BJP has been received so far.
