Kolkata: A 68-year-old pedestrian, Kailashwar Kabiraj, was severely injured and was stated to be critical after he was trapped between two private buses reportedly racing each other on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Burrabazar on around 10 am on Tuesday.
The impact left Kabiraj with severe injuries, primarily to his hip. Locals and cops took him to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, where he was admitted for treatment.
Police detained the driver of one of the buses, the route 24B bus. The driver of the route 44 vehicle fled the scene, abandoning the bus. Both vehicles have been impounded for a mechanical inspection. A case has been registered for rash driving and causing grievous hurt by negligence. tnn
