Kolkata: Calcutta University will allow UG students to write minor papers at their respective home centres instead of travelling to other colleges like earlier. The university's Controller of Examinations issued a notice on Friday and sent it to college principals.
This was a long-standing demand of college principals, because classes for students of other semesters were being disrupted. The notice highlighted that several CU-affiliated colleges have multiple shifts or units and were asked to accommodate students together in the day shift to ensure that exams are held smoothly. It stated, "This arrangement will not only reduce the length of the examination schedule but also help optimise cost and manpower, while maintaining uniformity in the overall process."
Many principals said the move will help reduce learning losses by allowing the maximum number of classes to be held each semester. tnn
