The Statesman | 28 April 2026
BJP’s national president Nitin Nabin on Monday launched bi-pronged verbal attack on the party’s political rivals, Congress for blocking the women’s reservation-related constitution amendment Bill, and the TMC for “cheating on people of the West Bengal in the name of “Maa Mati & Maanus”.
Addressing a public meeting here after virtually inaugurating offices of seven district units of the party, including Tonk, and laying the foundation stone for the Jalore district unit office, Nabin called on party workers and people to approach the Congress leaders and the MPs of their respective areas (constituencies) to seek an explanation for the grand old party’s “Anti Women” stance”.
“They should question the MPs/leaders why their party robbed the womenfolk of their rights. The BJP workers should also convey to the Congress, though they have blocked the move, the BJP stands ready to work for the cause of women’s quota and realise the resolve that PM Modi’s has taken in favour of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam”, the BJP chief exhorted the party cadre and also the people.
The BJP alone would finally get the Bill passed and pave the way for giving women their due right and share, he asserted.
Nabin also exuded full confidence that after forming a government in as many as 21 states, the largest party of the world with 14 crore members, is set to attain power from Anga to Banga and Kalinga too.
He said the TMC government came into power in Bengal on the narrative of “Maa Mati and Maanus, however, the government there has harassed and tormented the people of the state, cheated them in the name of Maa- Mati-Maanus”.
The BJP cadres there stood by the people have worked for them and many workers have sacrificed even self interest for the state. The people of Bengal also took to streets in protests against TMC misrule and rallied behind the BJP”.
The hard work and sacrifices of the BJP workers and enormous support from the people of the state are now paying us dividends at the hustings, Nabin added.
