• NIA nabs one in last month’s Bhangar bomb blast case

  • Kolkata: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested one of the prime accused in the Bhangar bomb blast case, in which one person was killed and three others were seriously injured in March this year.

    He has been identified as Ahidul Islam Molla of Bijoyganj Bazar in South 24 Parganas.On Monday, Ahidul was produced in court and taken into their custody.

    The development came around the same time that a late-night order on Sunday by the Union ministry of home affairs announced the probe into the recovery of crude bombs from Bhangar on Saturday would be handed over to the NIA.

    Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress candidate from Bhangar, Saokat Molla, has alleged that he was attacked on Sunday night by alleged ISF-backed criminals on his way back home after campaigning in the Chaltaberia area "I was stopped by the vandals and attacked," he said.
