• Modi’s Sikkim road show draws massive crowd as state completes 50 years

  • A vibrant wave of public enthusiasm marked the road show of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Sikkim, as the Himalayan state celebrates 50 years of its statehood. Thousands lined the route to Gangtok, waving the Tricolour, capturing moments on their phones, and expressing heartfelt admiration.

    The scenes reflected a festive yet emotional atmosphere, with children perched on shoulders, smiling and waving flags ~ symbolising a new generation witnessing a historic milestone. Across the state, people in traditional attire showcased Sikkim’s rich cultural diversity, as students, residents, and cultural groups came together in a display of unity, pride, and warm hospitality.

    The Golden Jubilee celebrations mark five decades of Sikkim’s progress and its enduring partnership with the Union of India, making the occasion both historic and memorable.

    Modi, who arrived in Sikkim on Monday afternoon, is scheduled to address a public gathering on Tuesday, where he is expected to announce development projects worth around Rs 4,500 crore.

    Meanwhile, Jay Shah, Chairman of the International Cricket Council, arrived at Bagdogra Airport along with officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India ahead of the Prime Minister’s programme. He was received by Cricket Association President Tika Subba, Chairman-cum-Construction Committee KC Sharma, and home department officials before proceeding to Sikkim for the inauguration of an Indoor Cricket Academy.
