• Union minister in Sikkim to review developmental works, hold meetings in Mangan

  • Union minister for parliamentary affairs Kiren Rijiju arrived in Sikkim on Thursday on an official visit focused on reviewing developmental initiatives and participating in a series of official engagements in Mangan district.

    The Union Minister, accompanied by noted singer Mohit Chauhan, landed at Bagdogra Airport in the morning before proceeding to Sikkim.

    During the visit, Rijiju is scheduled to attend official programmes, hold meetings with state officials and undertake field inspections in Mangan district as part of an assessment of ongoing developmental and administrative initiatives in the region.

    He was received at Bagdogra Airport by state minister Sonam Lama, political secretary to the Chief Minister Bikash Basnett, along with senior officials from various departments, including the ecclesiastical affairs, social welfare, tourism and civil aviation.

    Senior district administration and police officials, including representatives from Pakyong district administration, were also present to welcome the Union minister.

    The visit is being seen as part of the Centre’s continued engagement with Sikkim, with a focus on strengthening coordination with the state government and reviewing key developmental priorities in the strategically important Himalayan region.
