KOLKATA: Monks from Gaudiya Mission will embark on a peace mission to Europe, Australia, the US and Canada amid escalating tensions among different nations across the globe. The objective of the mission is to establish spiritual schools, known as Para-Vidyapith, in these continents to invoke the power of spirituality, morality and human values to attain world peace.
President of Gaudiya Mission, Bhakti Sundar Sanyasi Goswami maharaj, will lead the three-member delegation to UK, Germany, Austria, Australia, America and Canada. The delegation journey from Kolkata on May 14 and return to the city on July 7.
“During the long stay abroad, we will set up spiritual schools at Gaudiya Mission branches and interact with the non-resident Indians who have shown their eagerness in helping us to establish such centres which might play a key role in removing hatred against humanity,” said Bhakti Sundar maharaj.
Influenced by Sri Chaitanya Deb’s teaching of universal love, the founder of Gaudiya Mission in Bagbazar, Acharya Bhakti Siddhanta Goswami Prabhupad, set up Para-Vidyapith, a spiritual school, at Bagbazar in 1935. In 1966, the govt of India recognised this school as an academic institute.
The mission authority turned the spiritual school into a research institute in 2014, said Bhakti Nistha Madhusudan maharaj, the assistant secretary of Gaudiya Mission. Currently, there are 400 students in Bagbazar, the headquarters of Gaudiya Mission, and Nabadwip.
