• 6 unnatural deaths in 24 hrs

  • Kolkata: Six persons died under mysterious circumstances in different parts of the city in the last 24 hours. Around 11.15 am on Saturday, an 82-year-old resident of Lake Road was found lying on the bed in an unconscious state. He was declared dead at MR Bangur Hospital. The Tollygunge police have initiated a case of unnatural death.

    Around 7.40 am, a decomposed body of a 91-year-old woman, a resident of Chetla Road, was found floating in Adi Ganga. The body was removed by the Kolkata Police disaster management team. The Behala police have initiated a probe.

    Around 8.55 pm on Friday, a 49-year-old resident of Bama Charan Roy Road was found hanging from the ceiling fan using a dhoti. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. No suicide note was found.

    Two more decomposed bodies of a 72-year-old and a 48-year-old were found inside their houses on Saturday evening in Behala and Parnashree police station areas. No suicide note was found in both the cases.

    In the other case, a 44-year-old was found hanging from the ceiling fan using an ‘orna' at Sahapur Colony under New Alipore police station on Saturday afternoon. No suicide note was found in this case also. The police have initiated a probe of unnatural death in all the cases.
