• State to bolster monsoon preparedness in north Bengal

  • Kolkata: State municipal affairs minister Agnimitra Paul on Wednesday said the state govt will take advance monsoon preparedness measures, with special focus on north Bengal, in view of the severe flooding triggered by heavy rainfall in the region last year.

    "As per the CM's instructions, I will soon visit north Bengal and hold meetings with MLAs and govt officials ahead of the monsoon. We all know what happened in north Bengal last year, and we want to ensure such a situation does not recur. All precautionary arrangements wiil be taken in advance for both north Bengal and south Bengal. The CM has alerted us on this issue," Paul said after attending the CM's administrative review meeting for north Bengal through virtual mode from Nagar Unnayan Bhawan in Salt Lake.
