BJP leader Pappu Sana assaulted with bamboo sticks in Bengal; critical

KOLKATA: A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Pappu Sana, was allegedly assaulted by a group of attackers in Narendrapur in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, near Kolkata, police said on Thursday.
Pappu Sana has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a state-run hospital in Kolkata.
The incident took place around 2 am, when Sana was reportedly attacked with bamboo sticks by multiple assailants. He sustained severe injuries in the assault, sources said.
Preliminary inputs suggest that some of the attackers arrived in a car.
The exact motive behind the attack is not yet clear.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify those involved.
