A video purportedly showing a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader being assaulted by a group of women in South 24 Parganas’ Raydighi has gone viral on social media.
The clip surfaced days after another viral incident in Birbhum involving a TMC functionary and has added to a series of confrontations involving local leaders that have drawn public attention in the aftermath of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election results.
According to BJP leader Tajinder Bagga, the man seen in the video is Bappa Haldar, a TMC leader from Raydighi. Sharing the clip on X, Bagga alleged that Haldar was assaulted by local residents over accusations of demanding “cut money”, a charge independently not verified by The Statesman.
The footage shows a group of women surrounding and confronting a man. The circumstances leading up to the incident and the identities of those involved could not be independently verified.

Earlier, the BJP’s West Bengal unit posted a video of an episode in Birbhum’s Dubrajpur, where TMC functionary Dhananjay Garai, popularly known as Dhannu Master, was allegedly attacked by local residents.
In that case, videos circulating on social media showed Garai being chased and assaulted by an angry crowd. Garai is known to be a close aide of TMC councillor Bhaskar Ruj, who had faced allegations related to the distribution of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Sharing visuals from the earlier episode, BJP West Bengal claimed that Garai was beaten by local residents over allegations linked to “cut money”. The party alleged that such complaints had become widespread under TMC rule.
