Last week, the city Metro achieved a milestone after it completed the girder launching works at Chingrighata which had been stalled for more than a year. The implementing agency of the New Garia-Airport Metro corridor, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, which is carrying out the work for the city Metro, carried out the girder launching work and connecting the crucial stretch of 62 meters by taking a block of 120 hours and completing it by 115 hours.

After the girder launch, another crucial task of constructing a FoB has been taken up by the RVNL for which partial barricading of the road near Beleghata is to be taken for 45 days, starting tonight. However, no notification on any kind of diversion of traffic has been issued by the city police as yet.

Notably, the Metro authorities are now carrying out work on a war footing to reach the next station. As learnt from sources, the work to reach the next Metro station is being targeted for completion by the month of August. The Metro authorities are putting efforts to open the Beleghata and IT Centre at the start of the Metro corridor by December 2026.
