  • John Paul, known for his live guitar performances with Arijit Singh, Amit Trivedi and Raghu Dixit to name a few, treated Kolkata to an electrifying performance at a city pub on Sunday. The musician performed tracks from Kalpana, his cross-cultural fusion debut album dedicated to his late mother.

Inspired by his vivid imagination, collaboration and personal memories, the album formed the heart of the set, with each composition reflecting the spirit of the cross-cultural project. The concert also featured a heartfelt tribute to the late Ustad Zakir Hussain and the legendary fusion band Shakti, whose music has been a major influence on John’s artistic journey. John’s childhood friend, drummer Sambit Chatterjee who performed with him said, “I’ve always been pushing John to put out his album and music. I hope this concert is the beginning of John’s musicial journey.”

John and I’ve known each other for 20 years. I’ve always wanted to play with him, and it was an amazing experience. I hope more people turn up for his shows – Sambit Chatterjee
