Kolkata: RBI governor Sanjay Malhotra on Saturday met chief minister Suvendu Adhikari at Nabanna. In a Facebook post, Adhikari said that Malhotra met him on a courtesy call. Sources said they discussed enhancing cooperation to push development initiatives in Bengal.
The visit assumes significance as the budget session of the assembly will start on June 18, and the state's first BJP govt will present the full budget on June 22. In the revised estimate of 2025-26, the state has an outstanding debt of over Rs 7.6 lakh crore. One of the biggest challenges before the govt is to navigate the state's finances to ease this massive debt burden.
