Trinamool netas return alleged housing scheme kickbacks in Falta

Falta: A controversy erupted in Debipur under Falta block of South 24 Parganas over the return of alleged kickback money linked to a housing scheme.
According to allegations, two close aides of the local Debipur Trinamool functionaries — Sumit Haldar and Sumanta Mondal — are returning money previously collected from beneficiaries of the housing scheme.
The development comes barely 24 hours after police publicly marched arrested Trinamool heavyweight Jahangir Khan through Falta for a second consecutive day, even as a similar public shaming of another local neta unfolded in the neighboring Magrahat West constituency.
A video has emerged which shows two men distributing the money to five men and women and mentioning, “Ghorer jonne, gunne nao (this is for the house, count the money).” However, the context is not clear from the video as to why the money was being returned.
Locals said the money had originally been taken from beneficiaries on the promise of securing houses under the housing project, and is now being repaid in phases. The incident is said to have taken place in booth 80 of the Debipur area.
Fingers were also pointed towards the local Trinamool functionaries leadership in Debipur. Local neta Soumitra Mondal’s wife, Rimpa Mondal, is a panchayat member from the area. No response has yet been received from those accused.
