  • Kolkata: The BJP govt's flagship outreach programme, Jan Kalyan Shivir, will be launched in Bengal from Monday, with camps offering a range of citizen-centric services, including assistance for Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) applications, Aadhaar enrolment, opening of bank accounts and registration under welfare schemes such as Annapurna Yojana and Ayushman Bharat.

Officials said the CAA enrolment process is being first facilitated in an outreach programme, and so it is expected that the camps in the Matua belts of North 24 Parganas and Nadia will have huge turnout for citizenship. With the recent SIR disqualifying several from being voters, the rush is going to be immense.

Officials said the shivirs are going to have a high turnout for Annapurna Yojana forms, too.

The centres will operate in each borough of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The Shivirs are designed as single-window service centres aimed at facilitating access to govt schemes and all kinds of documentation, including Aadhaar enrolment and updation facilities.

Officials said citizens who don't have savings accounts will also receive help in opening them under PM Jan Dhan Yojana and link them with welfare schemes.

Simultaneously, eligible citizens will be enrolled under Ayushman Bharat to ensure access to proper health insurance coverage.
