Kolkata: A criminal case has been registered against former councillor Shantiranjan Kundu, based on a complaint by a homemaker, over five years after an alleged attack on her. The woman alleged post-poll violence, physical assault and outrage of modesty by Kundu and his aides on May 3, 2021, a day after the Assembly election results were declared that year.
According to the FIR, the woman and her daughter were alone at their Ultadanga home, when a mob, led by Kundu, barged into their house around 3.30 pm. Kundu allegedly ordered his men to throw the occupants out, destroy household property and burn the structure down. The men—Bikash Bishnu Mallik, Gour Sadir, Robi Sadir and Mitai Sadir, named in the FIR—dragged the complainant by her hair onto the courtyard outside, thrashed her, tore her clothes and hit her in her private parts.
The mob also ransacked her home and made off with two gold bangles, a pair of gold earrings and Rs 25,000, the woman said.
