School transfer portal for teachers, staff reopens after 4 years

Kolkata: The Utsashree portal for receiving transfer applications from schoolteachers reopened on Wednesday, after a gap of four years.
The portal was first temporarily suspended on Sept 29, 2022, and stopped accepting applications from teachers and staff of aided schools, citing a “special situation”. Later, the suspension period was extended multiple times following govt notifications. On Tuesday, school education minister Dipak Barman said the portal will start functioning shortly. Within 24 hours, the department issued an order announcing the suspension was revoked and the portal was fully functional.
On Wednesday, a notice was issued by the school education department stating the “complete withdrawal and revocation of the suspension placed on the Utsashree Portal .”
Teachers and staff can now apply online for all types of transfers through this portal. Animesh Haldar from the Secondary Teachers and Employees Association said, “This is a big relief for teachers and staff who were waiting for transfers. At the same time, the govt should start a fresh recruitment drive to fill those vacant positions.”
