Congress Workers Clash in Kolkata Over TMC ex-councillor Rehana Khatun's Induction

Kolkata: Clashes erupted outside Bidhan Bhavan, the Congress state headquarters, on Friday over the proposed induction of former Trinamool Congress councillor Rehana Khatun. It was alleged that eggs were thrown at Khatun.
As senior netas tried to maintain peace, the protesting workers claimed that Khatun was joining Congress to avoid arrest in various cases. They argued that accepting tainted netas into the party would damage Congress’s reputation. There were pushing, shoving and scuffles outside the Congress office. Later, the situation somewhat normalised after intervention by seniors.
According to sources, Khatun had arrived at the party office with her supporters to formally join Congress after severing ties with TMC.
