Kolkata: A dispute over parking near a garage escalated into a physical assault on a commercial vehicle driver, who was intercepted on the road along with his vehicle and attacked with an iron rod in the Parnasree area. The incident occurred on July 1, following which the police registered an FIR against the accused.
According to cops, the victim, identified as Sambhunath Halder, operates a small truck and routinely parks his vehicle at a garage located near the LIC Quarters. The accused, Kousik Das, also uses the same garage to park his commercial vehicle. On June 30, a disagreement broke out between Halder and Das inside the garage over the positioning and parking of their respective vehicles.
The dispute took a violent turn later the next morning. Police stated that Halder was driving his vehicle near the Kishore Bharati School when Das intercepted him. Das blocked the path of Halder’s vehicle, forcing him to stop on the road. Once the vehicle was stopped, Das forced Halder out of his vehicle and assaulted him using an iron rod.
