Hang my son if he is guilty: Mom of Baruipur rape-murder accused

Kolkata: Mother of Prabhas Mondal, one of the key accused in the rape-murder of a 12-year-old girl in Baruipur, has demanded the strictest punishment for her son, stating she would have handed him over to police herself.
“Hang him or chop him, give him the punishment he deserves. I am saying this as a mother. I would have handed him over to the police myself,” she told reporters.
When asked how her son got involved, the mother stated she was unaware as she lived in Kolkata working as a domestic help. She mentioned that Prabhas previously worked as a cook and was the sole earning member for the landless family.
Responding to whether she grieved for the victim or her son, she said, “Just as that child left her mother’s lap, I say let him leave my lap too. I have nothing else to say.”
She added her son was a drunkard and had been arrested earlier as well for being involved in drunken brawls. “Once he gets drunk, he has no control over himself,” she said.
