  • Kolkata: Ramakrishna Mission (Narendrapur) school authorities, including the Secretary Maharaj, were not present at a meeting between members of the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Praktani and recent passouts on Sunday, the secretary of the alumni association has said.

The meeting was held to listen to the concerns and grievances of recent passouts that surfaced after a class-11 boy of the school died after consuming scalding hot tea. “The purpose of the meeting was to hear the experiences of recent passouts. The alumni association is in the process of preparing a dossier of these submissions, which will be placed before the ashram. Nothing has yet been forwarded to Belur Math,” said alumni association secretary Shivaji Basu Ray, adding the association had no authority to announce or implement administrative decisions on behalf of the institution.

The RKM management has not yet taken any decision on the removal of current housemasters, appointment of new housemasters, monks taking charge of hostels and establishment of a grievance cell. Basu Ray also pointed out that allegations that the housemaster did not inform the headmaster about the student’s condition and that this delay allegedly ended in the death of a boy were yet to be established as the circumstances surrounding the incident were under investigation.
