Kolkata: Police in Kolkata searched the home and hideouts of Mohammad Firoz Khan alias Mini Firoz after he was arrested from near Dankuni toll plaza, and found a foreign-made 9 mm pistol, a magazine, three illegal country-made guns, and many bullets.
Police said Firoz used a fake arms licence from Nagaland, which had his real name but a fake address and false identity papers. He allegedly used it to buy the 9 mm pistol and live bullets from a gun shop in Kolkata.
Investigators believe Firoz used the legal-looking licence to get real ammunition. Some of these bullets were then used in illegal Munger-made guns carried by his gang members.
Police said the gang used these weapons to threaten and extort money from local builders, businessmen, and promoters.
Firoz has 37 criminal cases against him, including attempted murder, extortion, assault, and Arms Act violations. Detectives are now trying to find the people who helped him get the weapons and bullets.
