  • Kolkata: Three persons were arrested after a violent clash in Kadapara, under Phoolbagan Police Station, on Tuesday night. The clash involved an attack on a local resident, Ashok Yadav. In his police complaint, Yadav said around 30 men, led by a local youth named Hindol, attacked him. He alleged that the group came from the Narkeldanga side and fired shots to create panic before fleeing.

Cops rushed to the area and a large police team brought the situation under control. Three suspects were detained and later arrested.

Senior officers, however, denied the allegation of firing, and said the clash appeared to be a local dispute and not a political fight.

Local sources, however, claimed that political rivalry may have played a role. They said two BJP groups were involved, including one that had recently switched from Trinamool. BJP functionaries in the area denied this and said the clash happened because of personal enmity.

Sources said Yadav had earlier supported Trinamool but later joined a faction led by local BJP functionary Arun Sahoo. This move may have angered some local political workers.

Police have started a probe based on Yadav’s complaint.
