Treat ‘anti-social’ intellectuals with egg therapy, says Dilip Ghosh

Kolkata: Bengal’s Panchayat minister Dilip Ghosh, who had earlier said “absconding panchayat members” will be treated with “stone therapy”, said on Thursday that people would now treat intellectuals and “communists” with “egg therapy”. Ghosh labelled the intellectuals protesting against the encounter of Prabash Mondal “anti-socials”.
On Thursday, Ghosh defended the police encounter of Mondal, and criticized figures like CPM leader Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, former CM Mamata Banerjee, and activist Garga Chattopadhyay for protesting against the encounter.
“They are anti-socials. The communists and intellectuals have always stood behind the rise in crime in society. They want nothing but their own image and name. When a crime happens, they protest against it. When the criminal is punished, they protest against that too,” he said.
“Break eggs on the heads of these intellectuals. Make them understand. Give equal treatment to criminals and those who stand by those criminals,” Ghosh said.
Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya had however criticised the “egg therapy” earlier and claimed BJP workers were not involved in it.
