Fake dating call centre busted in Kasba, 8 arrested

Kolkata: Eight persons, including six women, were arrested on Monday after cops busted a fake call centre in the Rajdanga area.
According to cops, the setup operated on a fake-dating service model, with the fraudsters duping unsuspecting clients out of money through various digital payment gateways under the pretext of registration fees, security deposits, and processing charges.
Cops seized a cache of evidence, including 30 phones and over 50 active SIM cards used to execute the scam calls. Police also recovered several registers containing detailed records of target profiles and transaction histories.
“The main accused managed to flee,” an officer said.
