BJP worker alleges assault by Trinamool supporters

Kolkata: A BJP worker and a resident of Purba Rajapur, Mangal Haldar (30), was allegedly assaulted alongside his family members by alleged Trinamool Congress workers on July 15. Two persons were detained for interrogation. Haldar stated that a group of miscreants—Ranjit Mondal (alias Rana), Subhash Shikari, Prabir Shikari, Surajit Shikari, Surajit Das, Ravi Roy, and Ajay Shikari—wrongfully restrained him, his brother, and several others. The complainant alleged that the group launched a physical assault on them, raining kicks and punches without provocation. Haldar further stated that the accused issued death threats to him on July 21 after returning from the Shahid Diwas rally.
