Probe into paper leak will be thorough, assures Suvendu

Kolkata: CM Suvendu Adhikari on Friday tried to allay fears by assuring that investigations into the paper leak case will be done thoroughly, terming PM Narendra Modi’s decision to set up fast-track courts for such trials an action “for every youth”. At the same time, Adhikari stressed that “anti-national elements” behind these protests would be identified and acted against.
“The entire country has confidence in PM Modi. He has spoken about investigating the case. There is nothing to worry about. It (the investigation) will be done thoroughly,” Adhikari said after attending an Ulto Rath celebration.
The CM, who earlier criticised Left student organisations and claimed that Jadavpur University students were “forced out of their hostels” to join a protest rally, said on Friday that he had information about the forces behind this. “I have all information and we will not allow such activities inside hostels,” he said.
The govt doesn’t have any issue with a democratic movement, Adhikari said, adding that forcible participation in rallies would not be tolerated. The CM said he had spoken with the JU VC on this.
“I will do the work of identifying these anti-national elements. Whether it is Jan 26 or Aug 15, these days should be observed in every institution. This is the land of Rishi Aurobindo and freedom fighters. We will not allow anti-national elements here,” Adhikari said.
Meanwhile, Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya trained guns on the “negligible force of CPM”. “CPM does not have any impact on people. People have accepted them, tested them and finally rejected them. Nobody is talking about CPM now. People are perhaps unaware if the party has an MLA. They tried to instigate the youth when they should have stood with them. This is an old ploy but it will not yield any result. West Bengal doesn’t have (Mughal emperor) Babar’s govt now,” he said.
On Friday morning, state minister Dilip Ghosh said BJP was formed against autocratic forces in the country. “Children of those autocratic forces are trying to bring tyranny here. They are being helped by forces from outside the country to take a stand against the Indian Constitution. There is a section of professionals that organises rallies with funding from outside. Their purpose will be defeated,” he said.
