Ex-Driver Booked For Leaking Morphed Pics Of Employer’s Wife

Kolkata: Bidhannagar Police has booked a former driver for alleged sextortion, voyeurism, and criminal intimidation after he allegedly morphed and circulated photographs of his employer’s wife, a resident of Kestopur, to her family members and friends.
The accused has been identified as Amit Kumar Ray. After a complaint at Bidhannagar Cyber Crime Police Station, lodged by the victim’s 61-year-old husband, the accused was booked.
According to police, the case has been registered under sections 75 (sexual harassment), 77 (voyeurism), 78 (stalking), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS, 2023, along with sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act, 2000. In his complaint, the man stated that he had first engaged Ray as a cab driver through a hiring platform in Aug 2022. Ray built personal rapport with the family and continued to offer private cab services till Nov 2024.
The accused allegedly got into a relationship with the victim and secretly obtained, captured, and stored her intimate photos and videos. Since 2023, he allegedly began threatening her from multiple numbers, blackmailing her of circulating the photos on social media.
The situation escalated on July 9, when the complainant’s daughter received obscene and morphed photographs depicting her mother from an unknown number on a messaging application. The same images were simultaneously sent to the complainant’s other family members and a family friend. The man alleged that the accused’s wife also actively assisted him in targeting vulnerable individuals. “The accused was also booked in another extortion case at Narkeldanga Police Station on May 29,” a senior police officer said.
