CM: Will recruit 50k school teachers, staffers & college faculty this fiscal

Kolkata: The Bengal govt will recruit 50,000 school teachers, staff members, and college faculty in a phased manner in this financial year, CM Suvendu Adhikari announced at the Nabanna conference hall on Wednesday. He was speaking at a programme to distribute composite grants to 80,375 govt and govt-aided schools.
He said, “We will complete the ongoing recruitment process soon. The OBC rule framed by the previous govt was erroneous, which delayed college admissions by three months last year and stalled the teacher recruitment process. After taking office, our govt revised the rule and withdrew from the Supreme Court case on the matter. This will expedite the hiring process. Around 12,000 teachers are currently being recruited in phases, and another 38,000 teachers and staff members will be hired this financial year. In total, 50,000 positions will be filled in phases with complete transparency. Issues regarding ‘no-teacher’ or ‘single-teacher’ schools will also be resolved shortly.”
Several job aspirants expressed concern over whether the govt would wrap up hiring before the Supreme Court’s Aug 31 deadline. School education minister Dipak Barman said, “The recruitment process will be completed by Aug 31. We are making every possible effort to meet this target.”
Meheboob Mandal, a candidate whose teaching job was canceled by the SC order, said: “We want this govt to keep the promises it made to us while we were protesting. The commitment to protect untainted teachers must be honored.”
