Citizens attend Janatar Darbar to thank CM after getting back property

Kolkata: An 81-year-old Bhowanipore resident, Prabir Mukherjee, who was allegedly cheated by Joy Kamdar, one of the accused in the land grab case, and who lodged a complaint with chief minister Suvendu Adhikari at Janatar Darbar on May 25, came to thank Adhikari on Thursday after his grievance was redressed. He was joined by a Behala resident who had come for the same purpose.
On May 25, Mukherje attended Janatar Darbar seeking “justice”. He had given his Townshend Road property to promoter Kamdar with the latter promising to develop a building and hand over a flat to Mukherjee. However, Mukherjee never received the flat. Additionally, Kamdar demanded Rs 17 lakh to hand over possession of the property. Mukherjee was instead forced to vacate the place at gunpoint.
After his complaint to Adhikari, it took less than two months for Mukherjee to receive the possession of the flat.
In another case, Behala resident Jyotirmay Jana thanked Adhikari after getting back possession of his house after four years. Jana and his son had come to seek Adhikari’s intervention at the Janatar Darbar on June 24. Jana said local Trinamool functionary Debjit Pandey had taken possession of his house. “I had lodged a complaint with the CM and he instructed local MLA Shankar Sikdar to intervene. Keys of my house were handed back in the next month,” he said.
