  • Kolkata: Peerless Group is hoping that its hospital subsidiary will alone cross the Rs 500-crore mark by the end of this fiscal. The group as a whole had a revenue of Rs 500 crore four years back, and it has crossed Rs 1,000 crore.

The group’s revenue from the hospital segment now stands at Rs 440 crore, said Jayanta Roy, managing director of Peerless General Finance & Investment Company Ltd (PGFI).

“The transformation of our group began in 2022, and before it, revenue grew at 4% a year and profit declined by 11%. Since 2022, revenue has grown at 18% and profit at 16%, annually. Our group revenue has reached Rs 1,013 crore in FY 2026 while it was Rs 530 crore in FY 2022. Till FY 2026, Rs 900 crore was invested out of nearly Rs 1,300 crore committed across hospital and real estate projects,” said Roy.

Currently, the number of beds in hospitals under the group stands at 1,016: 666 in Kolkata, followed by 250 in Guwahati and 100 in Barasat.

Partha Sarathi Bhattacharya, chairman of the group, said: “This year, markets were weak and the state saw a change of govt while global uncertainty weighed on parts of our business. Even so, our group revenue crossed Rs 1,000 crore. The construction at Trayam, our mixed-use project in New Town, is in full swing with 41 of 71 residential units already sold.”

The revenue from Peerless Hotels has doubled to Rs 89 crore from Rs 39 crore in FY 22. Supriyo Sinha, director of Peerless Hospital and Peerless Hotels, said: “At present, we have three hotels in Kolkata, Durgapur and Hyderabad. Our focus remains on business hotels.”
