Kolkata: Cops have started a probe after two bike-borne miscreants snatched a purse from a 34-year-old woman on Strand Road near the Adi Bhootnath Mandir early on Thursday morning.
According to police, the incident took place around 4.15 am on July 30, when Divya Mohta, a resident of Strand Road, was walking along the stretch when two youths on a bike approached her from behind.
The duo snatched her purse and sped away before she could raise an alarm. The purse contained a high-end mobile phone without a SIM card, a driving licence, ATM cards, and Rs 2,000 in cash.
The victim managed to note down the registration details of the bike, informing officers that the last four digits were 8502.
“We are increasing patrolling in the area to pre-empt such incidents,” an officer said.
