  • Kolkata: A 44-year-old man, an ISF functionary, was allegedly murdered by his cousin over a family dispute in Bhangar on Saturday night. The accused later surrendered at the local police station. Victim Atabuddin Molla was a resident of Beliadanga. The accused, Golam Sarowar Molla, was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim’s family.

According to cops, the motive behind the murder dates back nearly 11 years when Golam Sarowar’s wife had allegedly died by suicide after setting herself on fire. At the time, allegations had surfaced that she was involved in an extramarital relationship with Atabuddin. Golam had held his cousin responsible for her death.

Police said that on Saturday night, when Atabuddin was returning home from Kolkata, Golam allegedly stabbed him in the chest.

Cops have seized the weapon and have sent the body for a post-mortem.

Cops have not found any political angle in the incident.
