NCW chief begins 3-day Bengal visit, to hold grievance redressal sessions

Kolkata: National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar will arrive in Kolkata on Wednesday on a three-day visit to hold programmes aimed at strengthening women’s safety in Kolkata and Howrah.
For the first time, the NCW chairperson will personally conduct two Mahila Jan Sunwai sessions in the state, providing women with a direct platform to present grievances before the commission. Walk-in complaints will also be accepted, with the commission coordinating with the concerned authorities for timely redressal.
The visit will begin with an interaction with students at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, followed by a meeting with women self-help groups at Dhono Dhanyo auditorium.
The first Mahila Jan Sunwai will be held on Thursday at the Police Training School, while the second is scheduled for Friday at the new collectorate building in Howrah.
Rahatkar will conclude her visit by presiding over a POSH workshop at Sarat Sadan before reviewing women-centric initiatives with district administration and police officials in Howrah.
